Kelly Clarkson’s new Christmas song, “Cancelled Exes,” is about broken relationships.
But that hasn’t stopped Kelly Clarkson from ushering in the holiday season early, even though Christmas is still three months away.
There is a new song from the Grammy-winning artist, titled “Christmas Isn’t Cancelled (Just You).”
Not your ordinary “Deck the Halls” Christmas carol, this one! “Since U Been Gone” by Clarkson or “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” by Ariana Grande are more comparable. The song’s lyrics, dripping with confidence,
essentially declare that an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend cannot destroy Christmas, the New Year, or anything else.
Part of the song’s lyrics are as follows: “All of my favorite things are destroyed because of you. But you won’t be able to rob me of Christmas. The sky won’t be as blue this year. There will be no cancellation of Christmas. It’s just the two of you.”
The first single, “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You”), comes off the forthcoming ninth studio album and second Christmas album by the 39-year-old singer/songwriter Ariana Grande. Chris Stapleton will contribute songs to the album, which will be published on Halloween, October 15th. With Carrie Underwood’s “My Gift (Special Edition)” re-release, which will include three new songs, the competition will be stiff.
“Wrapped in Red,” Clarkson’s 2013 holiday CD, was previously available for purchase. In 2019, she and John Legend remade “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with new lyrics including “your body, your choice,” which sparked outrage.
The return of Kelly Clarkson to The Voice prompts an emotional outburst as a contestant screams that she “killed my song in front of me.”
Kelly Clarkson finally gets rid of her Nashville home, which has been on the market for four years, for a cool $6.3 million.
To take advantage of the seasonal excitement, most musicians have released Christmas songs closer to the holiday. Clarkson, however, is not the first artist to make a song available so early in the recording process. A Christmas song was published in September 2017 by fellow “The Voice” judges Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
When Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock separated in July 2020, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. To date, Clarkson has been awarded primary custody of both of their children after papers acquired by USA TODAY in November 2020 showed this.
