Do the Atlanta Falcons, who are now winless, have a place for Jamie Collins?
Due to a lack of takers, the Detriot Lions were forced to cut veteran linebacker Jamie Collins. Would the Atlanta Falcons be a good place for Collins to start over? As a result of the league-wide defensive woes this season, Collins is certain to receive numerous offers.
Collins’ career has been a roller coaster ride of highs and lows. If Atlanta were to sign the veteran, it would be a risky move, but it would have little effect on the team’s overall performance on defense. Atlanta should only bring Collins in for a specific reason.
As a pass rusher and a run stopper, Collins has excelled during his time with the Patriots. Atlanta would gain a player to pair alongside Foye Oluokun if he signed. The talent of Deion Jones makes it impossible for him to be benched in favor of Collins.
The Atlanta Falcons could use another pass rusher in Jamie Collins, which would help them tremendously.
There’s no doubt Collins will land somewhere in the next week, but will it be with a team that’s in contention? As a result, he’d be a perfect fit in an Atlanta defense, and things couldn’t get any worse from there.
Atlanta’s 17-14 victory over the Giants should not be taken as a sign of improvement on the team’s defense. It was the Giants’ inability, not the Falcons’ progress, that allowed them to keep New York under twenty points.
When it comes to improving this season, Collins is a modest upgrade that Atlanta should look to add.
Collins has 61 tackles for a loss and 25.5 sacks to his name. He’d give Atlanta a player with the potential to get to the quarterback while also bringing big-play ability. Falcons fans should not expect Collins to make a significant impact on the team’s season. However, he has the potential to improve the Falcons’ awful defense in Week 4.
