Does Chris Carson have a gig scheduled for this Thursday? Seahawks-Rams injury report for Week 5 of the NFL regular season
Before the Seahawks take on the Rams in Week 5, Chris Carson (neck) is listed as “questionable.” Due to his absence from practice this week, it is more likely that he will be inactive. Fantasy football owners will be waiting for developments before making their first start ’em, sit ’em decision of the week because he has not yet been ruled out.
We’ll keep you updated on Carson’s whereabouts until the official active/inactive report is released at 6:50 p.m. ET on Thursday. Follow us on Twitter @SN Fantasy for the latest fantasy news.
Does Chris Carson have a gig scheduled for this Thursday?
Ahead of kickoff, we won’t know whether Carson will play or not until 90 minutes before kickoff, according to Seahawks beat writer Bob Condotta.
Due to a neck ailment, Carson was unable to participate in Wednesday’s practice and will be evaluated before Thursday’s game. We’ll keep an eye on Carson’s health, but for the time being, things don’t look good for him. We can’t take any chances with a neck injury, so we’ll have to wait for a last-minute decision on his availability. Aside from the possibility of getting limited playing time, Carson’s fantasy owners should be wary of his availability.
The PPR RANKINGS AFTER WEEK 5:
QB, RB, WR, Tight End, D/ST, and K are all positions in the offense.
The Rams’ front seven, anchored by Aaron Donald, is often regarded as formidable, but they’ve been among the worst in the NFL thus far against running backs in fantasy games. Giovanni Bernard, David Montgomery, James Conner, and Chase Edmonds have all amassed at least 17.9 fantasy points in PPR leagues thanks to their contributions. They’ve allowed plenty of backs to feast on them, even though they should be fantastic versus running backs on paper (though garbage time is responsible for some of that production). They did, however, succeed in stopping Jonathon Taylor against a shaky offensive line of the Colts. Seattle ranked 18th in the NFL in our offensive line preseason rankings. They’ve at least matched that level of play. Despite Russell Wilson’s rushing prowess, the Seahawks allow the most sacks and rushing yards in the NFL (10th).
CLASSIFICATIONS FOR WEEK 5:
QB, RB, WR, Tight End, D/ST, and K are all positions in the offense.
This means that even if Seattle has an advantage in the middle of the field,
the game may still come down to a ground battle between Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson. Seattle has attempted 91 fewer runs than any other team in the NFL so far this season, with a total of 91. The risks and issues surrounding Carson Smith make him a questionable must-start even if he is healthy.

Alex Collins is the likely Seattle starter if Carson is out. When Carson has been injured in the past, the Seahawks have instead gone with a few different backs. Collins may not have a workhorse role due to the presence of Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas, but he’s still worth a flex spot after racking up 78 total yards and a touchdown on 12 touches last week.
Just a reminder, if you opt to start Carson, move him to the RB spot rather than the flex spot. You’ll have greater leeway later in the week if you’re sidelined due to an injury or other Covid-19 problems.
