Pryor denies punching his ex-girlfriend during an alleged assault arrest in the National Football League (NFL).
Shalaya Briston, Pryor’s ex-girlfriend, also pled guilty to crimes stemming from the same violent incident in 2020.
Terrelle Pryor, a former NFL player who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, has reportedly denied hurting her.
After slapping and throwing pumpkins at his ex-girlfriend Shalaya Briston’s car, Pryor was arrested in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, according to TMZ.
This isn’t the first time the two have gotten into a fight. “Pryor got into a confrontation with Briston (the woman accused of stabbing the wide receiver in 2019) in Pennsylvania at around 1 a.m. following a night out drinking,” according to police documents released on Wednesday.
Despite their friendship, Pryor went home while Briston stayed out to drink. When Pryor allegedly “became irate with Briston and blew up her phone… phoning her over 50 times and sending more than 30 unanswered text messages,” the night took an unexpected turn, according to police documents. As a result, Briston went back to Pryor’s house, but he remained outside “for fear of Pryor.”
Afterward, Pryor reportedly attacked Briston outdoors, “shoving her and then hitting her in the face with an open palm.” Briston allegedly continued to assault her even after she fled, hurling a deck chair at her and tossing pumpkins through the glass of her Mercedes. Briston exhibited “inflammation, redness, and bruises under her left eye,” according to the police.
Pryor denied ever hitting Briston, but he admitted to tossing the pumpkins and was arrested as a result of his admission. Bail has been set at $100,000 for the 32-year-old, who faces charges of simple assault, harassment, and criminal mischief.
The interaction between the couple looks to be tumultuous and frequently aggressive. Following an altercation at the Heinz Loft Apartments in Pittsburgh’s North Side last year, both Mr. Pryor and Ms. Briston pleaded guilty to charges. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that “he admitted to summary harassment, while she was sentenced to two years’ probation for a simple assault charge.
After graduating from Ohio State University, Pryor signed with the NFL in 2011. In his career, the star has played for a number of different groups, including the Oakland Raiders, the Cleveland Browns,
and the Jacksonville Jaguars, among others. Pryor was released by the Jaguars in the wake of a season-ending injury in 2019.
