avid Lee Roth has declared his retirement from the music industry.
On Sunday, September 12, 2021, in New York, David Lee Roth presents the award for video of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, David Lee Roth, the original lead singer of Van Halen, announced his retirement.
“I’m going to toss in the sneakers. I’m going to retire, “In a phone interview with the newspaper, David Lee Roth stated. “This is the official announcement’s first and only… You’ve been informed. Share it with the rest of the world.”
Roth’s representatives have been contacted by CNN for comment.
During the band’s heyday in the 1970s and 1980s, when the foursome scored singles like “Dance the Night Away” and “Jump,” the flashy front man was known as “Diamond Dave.”
Roth’s statement comes just over a year after the band’s lead guitarist
and one of its namesakes, Eddie Van Halen, died of cancer. In the chat with the Las Vegas newspaper, the singer mentioned Van Halen’s death.
adding he had been thinking about “the absence of my favorite classmate.”
“I am encouraged and pushed to truly grasp how short life is, and my time is likely to be even shorter,” he said.

After Van Halen and his brother, Alex, met David Lee Roth, the band was established. Over the course of four decades, the band issued more than a dozen albums with a rotating cast of lead singers: Roth was replaced by Sammy Hagar, who was replaced by Gary Cherone, who was replaced by Roth again, and so on.
Roth told the Review-Journal that he remembers the band’s early days “as if they were yesterday.”
Beginning on New Year’s Eve and going through early January, Roth has five gigs at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, which he swears will be his final.
“I’ve given you everything I have. It’s been an incredible run with no regrets and nothing negative to say about anyone. I’m going to miss you all. Maintain your frostiness.”
