Emma Raducanu of the United Kingdom extended her incredible run through the US Open on Monday in New York,
defeating Shelby Rogers 6-2, 6-1 to become just the third qualifier to reach the women’s quarterfinals in the renowned tournament.

“Playing at Arthur Ashe Stadium for the first time was a touch nerve-wracking at first.” I was very proud of myself for settling down and regrouping and eventually finding a level that led me to victory.”
Rogers, who had previously beaten top-seeded Ashleigh Barty, battled mightily against Raducanu. She had 29 unforced mistakes compared to just 14 wins.
“It was a long day at work,” Rogers said. “Unfortunately, I had to disappoint tens of thousands of people.” So that’s something I’ll have to deal with.”
Raducanu will play Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic, who is ranked 11th in the world. Bencic, who won gold at the recent Tokyo Olympics, defeated Pole Iga Swiatek, who was seeded seventh, 7-6 (12), 6-3.
