Real Madrid and Villarreal drew 0-0 on Saturday, with Gareth Bale making his comeback from injury but failing to score.
Before being replaced in the second half, Wales captain Gareth Bale made his first appearance for Real Madrid since August.
Bale and Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma both hit the post in the first and second halves, respectively.
Geronimo Rulli, Villarreal’s goalkeeper, made several saves to keep Real Madrid from securing a 3-0 victory.
A four-point margin for Carlo Ancelotti’s team at the top is now in place, while Villarreal stay in fifth place.
Casemiro, a midfielder for Real Madrid, said, “We had a number of chances to win it, but in football you have to use your chances.”
