This Thanksgiving, there will be a new dessert on the table — but it isn’t totally new.
The dessert is a super-sized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. The Reese’s Thanksgiving Pie was introduced by Hershey’s on Monday, and it quickly sold out.
According to Hershey’s news release, the pie is 9 inches in diameter and weighs 3.25 pounds. This is the biggest Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup ever for sale.
“When you gather friends and family for Thanksgiving dinner, no table set is complete without dessert,” said Bo Jones, senior associate brand manager at Reese’s, in a statement. “At Reese’s, we sought to make a treat that everyone loved to enjoy.”
According to the product page for the pie on the Hershey’s website, the pies cost $44.99 and feed 48 people. Reese’s said on its Facebook page on Monday morning, “Looks like Reese’s lovers were incredibly appreciative for the new Reese’s pie this year since it is now sold out,” referring to the 3,000 available pies.
“We sorry, owing to overwhelming demand, this product is sold out,” the product listing adds. As of this writing, the advertisement has 130 queries from website users, many of whom wondered whether additional pies will be available for purchase before Thanksgiving. In response to some of these inquiries, Hershey’s said that it will share feedback with the appropriate team for “future planning,” but that “sadly, we won’t have any more accessible online for this year due to the near proximity of Thanksgiving.”
With that, it seems that we’re back to pumpkin pie, at least for the time being.
