how many awards has bts won ?
At the Billboard Music Awards, BTS created history. After being nominated seven times in six categories at the 2022 BBMAs, the K-pop trio shattered its own record for the most nominations garnered by any group or pair in any year. It set a new record with three victories during the award presentation in Las Vegas on Sunday.
BTS members RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, J-Hope, and Jungkook won Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song for Butter, despite skipping the Billboard Music Awards to work on their next album. They have now become the music group with the most Billboard Music Awards victories, with a total of 12, breaking Destiny’s Child’s record of 11 wins established 17 years ago. The previous band included Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.

BTS were the first K-pop group to be nominated for and win a Billboard Award in 2017. Since then, the band has received an award every year. Since their first nomination in the category in 2017, they have won the Top Social Artist award five years in a row. They were also named Top Duo/Group in 2019, 2021, and currently 2022. They also won the Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song categories again this year, bringing their overall prize tally to 12.

ARMY congratulated BTS on their historic victory, stating that “BTS paved the way.” One person said, “Congratulations for earning three awards, which are well earned. There are seven kings.” Others praised them for beating the record established by Destiny’s Child, which included Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. In 2006, the band officially dissolved.
As one admirer put it, “Destiny’s offspring! Beyoncé was a member of this group! Do you perceive BTS’s influence? Speak to them respectfully,” one person said, while another added, “Can I just say that BTS recently overtook a band in honours that includes Beyoncé?” Others speculated about a possible cooperation between BTS and Beyonce. “So Beyonce X BTS?” one user wondered.
Despite BTS’ historic victory, ARMY has not forgiven Billboard for doubting the K-pop group’s success. The ARMY was obliquely accused of manipulating the charts in BTS’s previous Billboard interview by mass-buying their tracks. This happened when their English single Butter, which was released in May 2021, achieved the longest-ranking no. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 list, topping it for ten weeks.

ARMY is still furious, and they have questioned Billboard over their decision to eliminate the Top Social Artist category without explanation. The Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist, first presented in 2011, is one of three fan-voted categories in the award presentation, and is based on key fan interactions, music streaming, and social engagement, as well as worldwide online voting results. BTS won the award for five years in a row and might have tied Justin Bieber’s record of six victories if they won this year.
ARMY questioned Billboard’s motives, with one stating, “This year would have been four victories if the Billboards hadn’t been so intimidated and chose to abolish Top Social Artist.” “So Top Social Artists award is withdrawn from the category this year for unknown/official reason?” another inquired. “So evident why BB discontinued the Top Social Artist award,” remarked a third.
Meanwhile, BTS is gearing up for the release of their new album on June 10. Proof is an anthology CD with 15 tracks, including numerous classic songs and the new single Run BTS. Yet To Come is the title of the first tune.
