In Ohio State’s game against Minnesota, these are three guys to keep an eye on
Mohamed Ibrahim is a running back capable of playing in the NFL.
Ibrahim, widely regarded as the top running back in the Big Ten, will be the centerpiece of this offense. Ibrahim will look to pound the ball and be the workhorse behind a very veteran offensive line.
Because Minnesota’s wide receivers lack known quality, the Gophers’ best chance of winning is to grind the time with long drives that prevent Ohio State from getting into a rhythm.
What Ibrahim will find is a talented Ohio State defensive line, but linebackers who are assuming starting roles.
So Haskell Garrett’s defensive line should be able to contain Ibrahim and take on numerous blockers.
The linebackers provide the largest question mark.
This year’s Buckeye linebackers are all new starters, and they’re thrown into a difficult situation right away, where they’ll have to accurately analyze blocking schemes and make plays.
They may not be known for their fancy tackles below the line, but restricting Ibrahim to 2-3 yards per run will be enough to win.
The struggle between Ibrahim and the Ohio State linebackers will be the most important aspect in determining if the Buckeyes win this game.
