Finally, Apple’s iOS 15 is going. After the release of the Apple iPhone 13 on Tuesday, the tech giant announced the public availability of iOS 15, along with iPadOS 15, for free download on Monday, Sept. 20. During the event, we also saw the first appearance of four new models of the iPhone 13, new iPads, and the Apple Watch series 7.
Not to be confused with the release of yesterday’s iOS 14.8 that tackles a security problem, iOS 15 brings many generations of iPhone new features.
At the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference in June, we first looked at Apple’s iOS 15 upgrade, followed by a beta developer, then a beta public. (The three things you need to know before you install it: how to get the iOS 15 public beta and how your phone is able to operate on iOS 15.)
While we saw several new features with iOS 14.5 and iOS 14.6, and iOS 14.7 come this spring and summer, like being able to unlock the Face ID on your iPhone while wearing a mask, iOS 15 brings even more to your app. New features in iOS 15 include the ability to start FaceTime phone conversations with Android users, ease of iMessage sharing, and improved map addresses. Read all the new features of iOS 15 up to now, including when it will be widely available and how to get it.
Date of release of iOS 15: September 20
At its annual Worldwide Developer Conference, on June 7, Apple first unveiled iOS 15, as is customary. The new operating system was initially available for testing by developers and was downloaded as a public beta on June 30.
Apple stated that iOS 15 will be free to download on Sept. 20 during its iPhone 13 presentation on Sept. 14.
This follows the usual Apple iOS release schedule and the software generally arrives a week after the introduction of an iPhone event.
You can probably get iOS 15 if you have held onto the same iPhone since 2015 or later. On the iPhone 6S and every iPhone onwards, Apple’s iOS 15 will be accessible.
New features for iOS 15
Here are some of the main innovations of iOS 15 which WWDC 2021 has revealed. (And the new features in iOS 15 given an overview here.)
Upgrades to FaceTime: Spatial audio, Android and Windows support
FaceTime provides space audio to make people’s voices seem natural and more lifelong from its location on the screen. In addition, FaceTime is starting to appear more like Zoom, enabling you to see all participants in a grid view, plan and distribute calls links to Google Android and Microsoft Windows devices that can access them through the internet.
iMessage Sharing
For pictures, news articles, and playlists, iOS 15 introduces several new IMessage sharing capabilities. If your buddy gives you many images on iMessage, they shown in a dynamic collage arrangement that enables you to touch them or press them to see the whole package in your pictures app. You will discover pictures saved in a new shared folder, mingled with your own highlighted photos and memories, if you wish to view those photos later. In addition to the new shared with you, in your news apps and Apple Music applications, you will also discover news items and playlists shared via iMessage.
Update of Apple Maps: 3D street data, AR direction, and weather alerts
Apple Maps is updated with higher resolution, road colors and driving instructions, comprehensive labeling, 3D settings, and night fashion improvements. You can also connect your iPhone and Apple Watch to public transport stops in the vicinity of public transit and station information. As you ride and approach your stop, you will also get automated updates and alerts. A new enhanced reality feature allows you to scan neighboring buildings with the camera of the iPhone for more exact walking instructions, which displayed in the enhanced reality, while going on foot.
Maps may now take in recommended weather alerts on iOS 15 routes. Redditor ChrisSDreiling claims maps will let you know if flash floods have occurred on your trip
so you can see if they may take other routes to escape severe weather. The change has reported by Maps. Although not stated in the ChrisSDreiling article other kinds of weather alerts you’re interested to find out if additional weather warnings are introduced before the iOS 15 release.
Validate the digital ID cards in the Wallet application using facial recognition.
Apple said at the WWDC this spring that it would introduce Wallet support in iOS 15
so that you may carry ID cards issued by the government, such as your driver’s license, with your iPhone. But how the new functionality works is still uncertain. Developers may use facial recognition selfies to verify your digital ID cards when added to your carry-on,
according to the code discovered by 9to5MAC in the newly released iOS 15 beta 4. Some financial applications currently use this authentication function to authenticate customers on new devices.
How can iOS 15 downloaded?
Once iOS 15 is ready, Apple will most likely give you a message that lets you upgrade. Or by heading to Settings > General > Software Update, you’ll be able to perform it manually.
You may now download this as a public beta if you want to test iOS 15 before it widely released. (Check whether iOS 15 is running on your iPhone.) Just be warned: betas are typically unstable and we don’t suggest that they be uploaded to your main device,
particularly towards the final version. But if you like, here are the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 beta downloads. (And you can go back to iOS 14 if bugs get you down).
