“Avatar 2,” James Cameron’s follow-up to “Avatar,” has finally received a look from 20th Century Studios after 13 years of delays. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” is finally here. “Avatar: The Way of Water” is the sequel’s official title.
The first “Avatar” has overtaken “Avengers: Endgame” as the most profitable film of all time (based on ticket sales) after being re-released in China last year. The picture had a record-breaking run in the United States, playing continuously for nearly ten months.
Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver in a new role, and Sam Worthington as Jake Sully are among the cast members who will reprise their roles in the sequel. Ronal, Michelle Yeoh, and Oona Chaplin are among the cast members that have been added to the cast… On the planet of Pandora, Sully and Neytiri are establishing their family and battling new challenges to the rising society of Pandora.
The release date for “Avatar 2” has been set for December 16th. It was previously slated for a release date of 2014, however, it has since been pushed back seven times. “Avatar 3,” which is scheduled for a 2024 release, ended up filming in 2020. “A little amount of ‘4’” was incorporated into the filmmaking process for the first two sequels, according to Cameron in a Variety Directors on Directors interview with Denis Villeneuve in December.
Because of the different sorts of situations and settings, we combined the filming periods for episodes 2 and 3, according to Cameron. If it’s just going to be a six-hour miniseries, I suggested treating Frankfurt as if it were a one-off stopover.” You may expect to see all the sequences from both “2” and “3” being shot simultaneously. That was a general idea.”
Produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, with Peter M. Tobyansen and David Valdes serving as executive producers, and Brigitte Yorke as an associate producer, “Avatar 2” will be directed by James Cameron.
