Lakers-Curry commends LeBron James for his perseverance in the NBA.
Newswires from ReutersSteph Curry of the Golden State Warriors remarked that four-time NBA champion LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, who is 36 and entering his 19th season, has set the benchmark for longevity in the league.
Last year, James, a 17-time All-Star, won his fourth NBA Finals MVP award after helping the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Miami Heat in the championship game.
Having played against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals for the previous four years, Steph Curry has nothing but admiration for LeBron James.
Curry said of Kobe before the Warriors’ 121-114 preseason win over the Lakers on Friday: “He established the benchmark for it.”
“Nine Finals in a row, everything he’s done. You’ve reimagined what it would be like to maintain your prime for as long as possible.
In other words, you know how hard it is to maintain your physical and mental health during the off-season. “Equilibrium on and off the court.”
Curry, the Warriors’ two-time MVP, revealed that James began attending his games in 2008, while the latter was still a student-athlete at Davidson College in North Carolina.
Curry reflected, “It’s a weird viewpoint for me just because I still remember my college days and he was just starting into his heyday in the league.
“And during the (NCAA) tournament run my sophomore year, he attended a game and attended a game my junior year as well. This is hysterically funny. He signed a jersey for me in 2008, and it’s still hanging in my room at my parents’ house in Charlotte.
When it comes to the last 13, 14 years, it’s “strange to think about.”
The regular season of the NBA in 2021-2022 will begin on October 19th.
