Linda Evangelista files $50M lawsuit over disfiguring cosmetic treatment
Linda Evangelista, a former supermodel
has launched a $50 million lawsuit against cosmetic operations that she claims left her “brutally deformed” and forced her to become a hermit.
In an Instagram post, the Canadian model, who had a major presence on the runways and on magazine
covers in the 1990s revealed that she had undergone fat-reduction therapy five years ago.
“To my followers who have questioned why I haven’t been working while my friends’ careers have flourished,”alsoshe wrote in the Wednesday post, “the explanation is that I was horriblydisfigured by Zeltiq’s CoolSculpting treatment, which accomplished the exact reverse of what it promised.”

follows the careers of four of the world’s most renowned women in the fashion industry.
After the operations, she claimed she had an uncommon side effect known as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), which causes swelling in the treated regions.

A call to Zeltiq Aesthetics, a division of Allergan Aesthetics and parent company AbbVie, went unanswered.
Linda Evangelista filed the complaint against Zeltiq in federal court in New York on Tuesday
accusing the business of carelessness, deceptive advertising, and failing to warn consumers about potential adverse effects.
Evangelista allegedly had several operations between 2015 and 2016 to remove fat on her thighs, belly, back, flanks, and chin, according to the complaint.

The PAH had not responded to corrective surgery.
She’s asking for $50 million in damages for lost income and mental anguish, claiming that
she’s no longer employable as a model and hasn’t made anything since 2016.
