City defender Benjamin Mendy was duress in custody for two weeks
Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy
retaining in jail on Friday after pleading guilty on four counts of fraud and one count of sexual assault.
According to the Chester Magistrates Court, which verbally confirmed the news
to CNN, Mendy will be kept in custody until his next trial date on September 10.
Mendy, 27, testified in court to establish his identity, residence, and date of birth.
The County Judicial Service (CPS) says
on Thursday that the alleged events occurred in Cheshire
northwest England, between October 2020 and August 2021, and that three complainants over the age of 16 are contributory.
According to the Prosecutors, “Mendy, of Withinlee Way, Prestbury, he duress in custody and will appear before Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 27, 2021.”
Mendy “caption pending an investigation,”
according to Manchester City’s website
The matter is now in the hands of the legal system
” the statement stated, “and the Club will be unable to comment more until that process finished.”
CNN started reaching Mendy’s representatives, but they won’t reply.
