Maya Millete CHULA VISTA, Calif. A Southern California man was arrested nine months ago on suspicion of killing his wife, the mother of their three children, and her family begged for assistance in locating her corpse.
Larry Millete, 40, was detained at his home in the Chula Vista neighbourhood of San Diego on Tuesday, a day after prosecutors charged him with murder and unlawful possession of an assault weapon, according to authorities. If convicted of murdering his wife, Maya Millete, he may face a life term in jail.
Maya Millete, 40, went missing in early January, according to police. Authorities say she left her phone and other belongings with the couple’s three children.
Maya Millete was in a “toxic relationship,” according to District Attorney Summer Stephan, and her final known call before she vanished on Jan. 7 was to a divorce attorney.
Larry Millete informed authorities that his wife had left the family freely. Police had merely designated him as a person of interest in the investigation.
Her sister made an emotional request to the public for assistance in locating her sister’s remains.
“This isn’t the end,” Maricris Drouaillet remarked. “There’s still a long way to go.” We’re still pleading with the public to assist us in bringing my sister home.”
According to Stephan, prosecutors can pursue a murder case without a body if they have other evidence.
Maya Millette spouse resisted divorce and recruited “spellcasters” to prevent her from leaving, according to Stephan.
“He was requesting that May become disabled… so that she might remain at home, therefore demonstrating his homicidal idealizations to harm May,” Stephan explained.
