After a blowup on the sideline in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Akron,
Ohio State linebacker K’Vaughan Pope was taken to the locker room.
Lettermen Row reports that Pope attempted to join the game in the second quarter but was turned down by Buckeyes linebacker Teradja Mitchell.
When Pope returned to the sideline,
he went toward the locker room before being escorted back to the sideline by an Ohio State employee.
Pope then reportedly tossed his gloves into the bleachers and tried to remove his jersey from the sideline, according to the allegation.
Before being led into the locker room by a worker,
he spoke with a couple of Ohio State coaches.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day refused to say if Pope was still on the team after the Buckeyes’ 59-7 win.
Day replied, “I just came off the field.” “As a result,
I’m going to have to find out where everything stands right now.”
While the game was still going on, Pope tweeted “f—- Ohio State” in a now-deleted tweet.

He also posted a tweet on his account that said “nice luck to my teammates.”
After the game, Day said he was made aware of the tweets,
but he wanted to investigate them further before making any remarks.
Pope, a senior, has appeared in 33 games but hasn’t seen much action throughout his career.
This season, he has three tackles and hasn’t played a significant part in the defensive unit.
Pope will be the second linebacker to depart the program in the last week if he is not retained.
Dallas Gant, who has seen very little playing time this season, entered the transfer portal on Wednesday.
Although it is unknown if Pope has left the school,
the Buckeyes have seen six players leave since the conclusion of last season, including Gant.
Wide receivers Jameson Williams and Mookie Cooper moved to Alabama and Missouri, respectively, cornerback Tyreke Johnson transferred to Nebraska,
while offensive lineman Ryan Jacoby departed for Pittsburgh.
