Olivia Rodrigo Is Without a Doubt the Most Promising New Artist

Olivia Rodrigo stepped up to her first Grammy Awards red carpet in a black bespoke Viviene Westwood gown with a pink body outline, proving that life isn’t always that harsh. Rodrigo accessorized the gown with multiple necklaces, including a black choker with pink crystals and a chunkier pink necklace, as well as some extremely expensive opera gloves, in classic ’90s style.

With her first album Sour and a sold-out tour, the 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough year. (On Disney+, she recently debuted her concert video Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u.) She was nominated for seven Grammys as a consequence, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year. “Drivers License,” her first success, was also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, with “Good 4 U” receiving a nomination for Best Music Video.
Rodrigo, along with a few other artists, won a Grammy for “drivers license” before the broadcast program ever began, winning the prize for Best Pop Solo Performance. She went on stage to receive the prize for Best New Artist after performing the smash song throughout the ceremony. She said, “This is my greatest wish come true.” She won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album as well.

So far, Rodrigo hasn’t had a typical Grammys weekend. Rodrigo was reportedly not allowed to attend Spotify’s new-artist showcase on Saturday because she is too young — it was 21-and-over only. While her peers in the Best New Artist category (including Saweetie, FINNEAS, and Japanese Breakfast) celebrated, Rodrigo was reportedly not allowed to attend because she is too young — it was 21-and-over only. Whether she wins or loses, the star of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will hopefully be able to attend a few of after-parties after her first Grammy Awards.
