Onam 2021: Kerala Governor Extends Onam Greetings
On Saturday, Keralites all over the globe will celebrate Onam,
a festival commemorating the return of Asura (devil) King Mahabali, whose rule was marked by happiness and equality for everyone.
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan sent his “warmest Onam wishes” to the state’s residents a
nd other Keralites across the globe on Friday.

also, Khan said in a series of tweets that the Onam festival “reignites the glorious heritage of a life of equality, oneness, and wealth.”

“I truly hope that Onam’s music, beauty, and glitz spread across the world as Kerala’s unique message of love, equality, and harmony,” Khan added.

Envious of his popularity, the Devas (Gods) sought Lord Vishnu’s assistance to have him
exiled to the netherworld, but before going down, Mahabali obtained a blessing
from Vishnu to visit his people every year on ‘Thiruvonam’ day, which falls on August 21 this year.
