Rapper Young Dolph was killed in a shooting in Memphis.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — (WREG) – According to early information from Memphis Police, Memphis-based rapper Young Dolph was slain Wednesday in a shooting inside a cookie store in Memphis. He was 36 years old.

A gunshot occurred Wednesday afternoon at 2370 Airways Boulevard near Ketchum in Memphis, according to Memphis Police.
Officers and witnesses could be seen standing in front of a damaged window at Makeda’s Butter Cookies, a bakery in a strip mall that Young Dolph had previously visited. See a video of his July visit to Makeda’s.
A guy who answered the phone and identified himself as the proprietor of Makeda’s stated that the rapper had just purchased cookies from the business before to the incident.

“This shooting is again another example of the senseless gun violence we are seeing locally and nationally,” stated Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis in a tweet.
Young Dolph, whose true name is Adolph Thorton Jr., graduated from Memphis’ Hamilton High School. He gave the school $25,000 last year for new sports equipment and supplies.
King of Memphis, Young Dolph’s first album, was released in 2016 and peaked at No. 49 on the Billboard charts. “Get Paid” is one of his biggest singles.
On Monday, he joined rapper Key Glock at the West Cancer Center near Memphis to distribute 200 Thanksgiving turkeys.
Airways Boulevard, which passes directly in front of the scene, is allegedly congested all the way to Interstate 240. Police have requested cars to avoid the area, which is near to Memphis International Airport.
The danger of retaliatory violence and unrest prompted Memphis state Rep. London Lamar and City Councilman JB Smiley to call for a citywide curfew Wednesday night.
A lady in a truck came up to the scene at one point, informing officers she had a gunshot victim in her car. That incident did not seem to be linked to the Young Dolph shooting. On the scene, EMTS started treating the guy.
Deion Sanders, LL Cool J, and others have paid respect to Young Dolph’s demise.
Young Dolph has previously been shot during a brawl at the Loew’s Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles in 2017. In that instance, one individual was arrested on a charge of attempted murder but later freed without charge.

Earlier that year, rapper Blac Youngsta, who had signed with Yo Gotti, was accused of opening fire on Dolph’s SUV in Charlotte, North Carolina.
