Ryan Vermillion, a trainer in Washington, has been placed on administrative leave because of an ongoing criminal investigation.
As a result of an ongoing criminal investigation, the Washington Football Team’s trainer Ryan Vermillion has been placed on administrative leave, the team said on Monday. The revelation was initially reported by NBC Washington earlier in the day.
In a statement, the team explained that Ryan Vermillion had been placed on administrative leave because of an ongoing criminal investigation unrelated to the organization.
According to The Athletic, a search warrant was conducted on Vermillion’s home on Friday, according to a DEA representative. The spokesman acknowledged that it is being looked into further.
Washington’s head athletic trainer, Vermillion, is in his second season. Washington’s current coach Ron Rivera had him as an assistant athletic trainer for the Carolina Panthers during his first 18 seasons there.
When pressed by reporters on Monday, Rivera declined to say much about Vermilion’s position, stating only, “The team has already made a statement.”
However, he did mention that while Vermillion is away, the squad will turn to its doctors for guidance and assistance.
