According to ESPN, the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a major trade in which the Broncos would send a substantial package of players and draft picks to the Seahawks in return for Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, who won the Super Bowl.
Lock, Fant, Harris, two first-round picks (2022 and 2023), two second-round picks (2022 and 2023) and a fifth-round selection have been traded to the Seahawks in exchange for Wilson and an additional fourth-round pick, according to reports.
The trade provides Denver the quarterback it has been looking for since Peyton Manning retired, and it offers Seattle a basis from which to rebuild without the quarterback who led the Seahawks to their only Super Bowl title..
Per ESPN, Wilson waived his no-trade clause and cleared a physical exam with the Broncos on Tuesday night. The Seahawks can now send him to Denver, ending his record 10-season stint in Seattle that includes nine Pro Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl title, and more wins than any quarterback ever had in his first ten seasons in the league..
According to sources who spoke to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, if Wilson were moved, the Broncos would be his top choice.
The physicals of the other players involved in the trade are still pending. There will be no official announcement of a trade until 4 p.m. Eastern Time on March 16, which is the first day of the NFL’s 2022 season.
Aaron Rodgers’ choice to return to Green Bay has nothing to do with Denver acquiring Wilson. This season, Wilson’s $37 million compensation would be deducted from Seattle’s salary cap. The Seahawks will save $11 million in cap space in 2022 as a result of trading for him. All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, who was drafted on the same day as Wilson in 2012, will also be released by the Seahawks, saving the team $16.6 million in salary-cap room.

Wilson hasn’t made it obvious if he wants to be traded.
Sources tell Sports Illustrated that Wilson has always expected to review his concerns after the 2021 campaign. A number of times, he stated that he intended to stay in Seattle for the long haul and win additional Super Bowls with the team. Wilson, despite the fact that his no-trade provision may ensure his continued presence, did not make a definitive statement to that effect.
Two years and $51 million are remained on Wilson’s four-year, $140 million contract. Base salaries of $19 and $22 million make up the majority of the total, with $5 million March roster bonuses making up the rest. The Seahawks would have owed Wilson his $5 million bonus if he had stayed on the roster as of March 20.
