In new Hulu footage, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee deal with the fallout from their stolen sex video.
Six months after viral images of Lily James and Sebastian Stan dressed as Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee went viral, Hulu has released the first Pam & Tommy teaser.
The series delves into the consequences when Anderson and Lee’s sex video was stolen and broadcast throughout the globe. (Anderson and Lee, who were married from 1995 to 1998, would sue Internet Entertainment Group for publishing the recording without their permission, finally reaching a private settlement.)
The show also stars Seth Rogen and Nick Offerman as the couple who steal and ultimately disseminate the iconic sex video. “It’s so…private,” Offerman’s character adds through voice-over in the teaser. “It’s as if we’re seeing something we shouldn’t be seeing, which is part of what makes it so hot.”
When video of Anderson and Lee’s honeymoon tryst goes viral, it’s apparent who will face the most condemnation from the public. “Isn’t it no great thing to me?” “I’m on that tape, just like you,” Stan says in the teaser. “No, you’re not like me,” James’ Anderson responds.
Anderson and Lee have not spoken publicly on the series, in which they are not engaged. However, soon after Pam and Tommy’s viral images became viral, Courtney Love publicly expressed her displeasure with the program, stating that it was “further inflicting” Anderson “complex anguish.” Love alleged in a now-deleted Facebook post that producers requested her to accept the use of her December 1994 Rolling Stone cover for Pam & Tommy. “I was stunned and replied, ‘fuck no,'” she wrote.
The series was created by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, written by The Wrestler’s Rob Siegel, and directed by Craig Gillespie of I, Tonya. Taylor Schilling and Andrew Dice Clay also feature in the episode. Pam & Tommy will be available on Hulu on February 2, 2022.
