Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek brought Hollywood glitz to Monday’s international premiere of Marvel Studios’ latest comic book adaption, “the Eternals.“
“The Eternals” directed by Chloe Zhao, who won the best director and best picture at the Oscars earlier this year for her film “Nomadland,” has one of the most varied ensembles of any Marvel film.

“I simply hope it starts to normalise what should have been there, to begin with,” Jolie told Reuters. “I hope that in years to come, people see these films and we don’t even think about it as being diverse; it simply becomes what’s natural, what’s right, and what’s an acceptable depiction of the society we live in.”

Sersi, one of the Eternals, a group of aliens that have resided on Earth and discreetly supervised mankind for 7,000 years, is played by Gemma Chan.
“It has a distinct tone, and it will be pretty different aesthetically,” Chan explained. “Obviously, the cast is massive, and the narrative spans 7,000 years, making it really epic. One of the film’s themes is connection: connection to one another and connection to the planet. I hope that struck a chord with some of you.”
“The Eternals” also introduces the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first deaf character, Makkari, played by Lauren Ridloff.
“I may be the first, but I won’t be the only one for long,” Ridloff said in American Sign Language. “There will be another deaf superhero in the MCU very soon, so this is absolutely a game-changer.”
“The Eternals” which was delayed a year owing to the epidemic, will finally hit theatres in November.
