As the weekend progressed, the gender demographic shifted somewhat, but female ticket purchasers still dominated with 56 percent. The age distribution remained unchanged, with almost half of all ticket purchasers being 35 or older.
The film had an over-index west of the Mississippi, a normal index in the southeast, and an under-index in the northeast. Canada scored a respectable 7.5 percent. Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Denver, Tampa, Minneapolis, Portland, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Albuquerque, Honolulu, and Oklahoma City were among the top over-indexed markets. New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Boston were among the top markets that under-indexed.

“The Lost City has infused theatrical life into the adventure-comedy-romance genre, which has been fairly sparse in recent years,” said Chris Aronson, head of Paramount Domestic Distribution. “What a fantastic start!”
The film, which had its international debut at the SXSW festival earlier this month, also stars Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame.
The film made $3.7 million in its first 16 minor countries overseas.
The Batman earned another $20.5 million on Sunday, bringing its domestic total to $332 million. It made another $25 million in international markets for a total of $340 million and $672.9 million globally, with $52.7 million coming from Imax cinemas. One weak link is China, where a fresh wave of COVID-19 cases has forced the closure of countless theatres. According to Warner Bros., Batman earned $3.1 million in its second weekend in China, bringing the total to $17.9 million.
Action film from India RRR made waves in its North American premiere, finishing third with $9.5 million from 1,160 theatres, a new high for an Indian picture. Sarigama, the film’s distributor, is treating it like an event, with higher ticket prices.
Infinite Storm, a climbing adventure starring Naomi Watts, did not do as well. The Bleecker Street movie debuted to a disappointing $751,296 in 1,525 theatres throughout the US.
The critically praised Everything Everywhere All at Once (A24), starring Michelle Yeoh, was a smash success at the specialty box office, grossing $50,965 from ten venues in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco over the weekend.

Mothering Sunday (Sony Pictures Classics) debuted in five theatres, starring Odessa Young. The film’s weekend per-location average was about $1,800.
Even more than three months after its initial release, Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home had something to brag about among the top ten holdovers. The superhero picture is just the third in history to gross more than $800 million in the United States, behind only Avengers: Endgame ($858.4 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.7 million) when not adjusted for inflation.
Spidey earned $2 million over the weekend, bringing his domestic total to $800.5 million and $1.88 billion worldwide.
