Today’s Cowboys vs. Buccaneers game is on what channel? In Week 1, the NFL’s Thursday night football schedule and timing have released.
The Cowboys vs. Buccaneers game will be aired on the same channel as the previous 15 NFL season openers. Yes, the Thursday night football kickoff will once again be shown on NBC.
Nonetheless, it will be the only Thursday night NFL game televised by NBC this season. Because Fox has held the “Thursday Night Football” rights for a few years, NBC’s season opener is officially a “Sunday Night Football” match.
I realize it’s perplexing. All you need to know is that the season premiere will be shown on NBC. The Buccaneers and Cowboys have two of the best-looking offenses in the NFC, so it should be a blast. Each team boasts a strong and deep receiving corps, as well as two quarterbacks — Tom Brady and a now-healthy Dak Prescott — who should be able to make the most of their weapons.
Given the quality of each offense, the NFL season opener could provide plenty of fireworks. However, Tampa Bay had one of the top defenses in the league last season, so they have a distinct edge — particularly since they’re playing in front of a home crowd and are coming off a Super Bowl victory.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Cowboys’ game against the Buccaneers on Thursday night, including the kickoff time and TV schedule for the NFL season’s opening game.

The game between the Cowboys and the Buccaneers will be televised on NBC. As NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” crew for 2021, Al Michaels (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (color analyst), and Michele Tafoya (sidleine reporter) will be on the call.
And, yes, despite the fact that the game is being aired on a Thursday night, it is still officially a “Sunday Night Football” game. Why? Because “Thursday Night Football” is owned by Fox. So don’t be alarmed if they refer to the show as “Sunday Night Football” in the evening-they may instead refer to it as “NFL Kickoff” or something like that.
