Toy Story 5: Return of Buzz and Woody in Disney’s Newly Announced Sequel
Buzz and Woody to Return in Disney’s Upcoming Toy Story 5?
Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear in the upcoming Pixar film Toy Story 5, hinted in a tweet that both he and Tom Hanks, who voices Woody, will be returning to their respective roles.
Disney is looking to bounce back from recent losses and one strategy they have in mind is to bring back some of its most popular animated franchises.
The announcement of sequels for Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia was made by Disney CEO Bob Iger as a way to “tap into our strong franchises.” This is corporate jargon for the benefit of shareholders, and as of now, no public information has been released about any of these projects or their progress.
Tim Allen, who plays Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story series, has taken to social media to suggest that he and Tom Hanks, who plays Woody, will return for Toy Story 5.

At the conclusion of Toy Story 4, Woody made the decision to join Bo Peep as a “Lost Toy” and bid farewell to his former companions, including Buzz. This was thought to be the final installment in the series, but it would be easy to bring them back together. Allen seems optimistic about the prospect.
Disney’s return to the Toy Story franchise may have some people skeptical, but it makes financial sense as the fourth film made over $1 billion in 2019.
In contrast, the spin-off “Lightyear” from the previous year was seen as a box office failure, indicating that moviegoers prefer to interact with the toys rather than the characters they are based on. Although the film was enjoyable and Chris Evans did a fantastic job as Buzz, “Toy Story 5” makes more sense as a sequel rather than a realistic Woody outing.

It is assumed that none of these sequels will ever be released, but after a few years of having its films moved to Disney+ by former Disney CEO Bob Chapek (which severely impacted the brand), Pixar is undoubtedly eager to prove its capability of delivering blockbusters with the release of “Toy Story 5.”
