Lipa went on The Late Performance With Stephen Colbert on Thursday night (Feb. 3) to talk about her live show, wearing nothing when Elton called to do business, and more.
She tells Colbert that the next global tour is “very different” from the one scheduled for 2020. For openers, the record was released in March 2020, just around the time the World Health Organization announced the epidemic. Lockdown turned out to be a terrific time for millions of people to do nothing except watch Future Nostalgia. “This time,” she adds of her live presentation, “I’ve done a lot of audience research and I feel like I know what songs people appreciate…the it’s best of.”
After a lengthy hiatus, Elton John returned to the top of the charts in the United Kingdom and Australia with “Cold Heart.” The song, which was reworked by Pnau, an Australian electronic production group, had an unusual beginning.
Lipa was developing songs for a new album in Los Angeles when Elton phoned to pitch the tune. On Facetime, to be precise. She recalls wearing a bikini and a cowboy hat. “There’s no way I’d have it any other way.” It was ideal.”
Lipa turned the script and became host for a minute during the interview, engaging Colbert in a deep and important conversation on how his faith intersects with humour.
